Basketball Game Preview: Crosby Bulldogs vs. New London Whalers

Two dominant guards in Nevin Kinsey and Dashaun Phillips are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Crosby Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the New London Whalers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Crosby is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They walked away with a 57-50 win over New Britain.

Crosby's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gerimiah Watson, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayquan Anderson, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points and eight boards.

Crosby smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, New London took their contest on Monday with ease, bagging an 84-44 win over Wilby. The Whalers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 21 points or more this season.

Crosby has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points over those games. New London's record is now 20-4.

Crosby came up short against New London in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 72-61. Can Crosby avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
