Baseball Recap: Green Extends Winning Streak to Three

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Green ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the St. Joseph Central Flyers 8-7. The win was nothing new for the Bobcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Jonathan Knapp was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Blake Smith was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Quincy Merrill, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Green's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for St. Joseph Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Green will venture away from home to challenge South Webster at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Jeeps have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. St. Joseph Central will be paying especially close attention to Green's contest: after Green faces off against Eastern, they'll take on St. Joseph Central again at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
