Soccer Game Preview: Platte County vs. Raytown

The Platte County Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Raytown Bluejays at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Platte County has seven straight victories, Raytown has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Platte County's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Belton as they made off with a 3-0 win. Platte County's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Meanwhile, Raytown fell victim to Winnetonka and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Griffins by a score of 1-0.

Platte County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for Raytown, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Everything went Platte County's way against Raytown in their previous meeting on Monday, as Platte County made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
