Softball Recap: Dodson Sets Scoring Season-High Against Union Parish

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dodson). They were the clear victor by a 17-3 margin over the Union Parish Farmers on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Courtney Mckiddy made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Mckiddy was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brenna Fenn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Olivia Underwood was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

Dodson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Dodson's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Union Parish, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Dodson will challenge Ringgold at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Ringgold has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15 runs per game on average), something Dodson will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Union Parish, they will welcome Simsboro at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
