Softball Preview: Heritage Panthers vs. Astronaut War Eagles

Heritage is 0-6 against Astronaut since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Heritage Panthers will be playing at home against the Astronaut War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, it was close, but Heritage sidestepped Christian Academy-Louisville for a 9-8 victory. The win was just what Heritage needed coming off of a 25-0 defeat in their prior contest.

Autumn Medina made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits (she also only allowed one walk). Medina was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Addyson Schanz was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Alyssa Medina was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, Astronaut was able to grind out a solid victory over Space Coast on Tuesday, taking the game 8-3.

Like Heritage, Astronaut also got a great game from a two-way player: Riley Miller. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Ciara Vansky was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Arielys Rosado, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Heritage's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Astronaut, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Heritage might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Astronaut when the teams last played back in February.
