Softball Game Preview: Adirondack Wildcats vs. Mt. Markham Mustangs

Adirondack has gone a perfect 4-0 against Mt. Markham recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wildcats will face off against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Adirondack will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Adirondack is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since April 7th on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Little Falls, sneaking past 4-3.

Allison Croniser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brea Barrow and Leah Leach did most of the damage at the plate: Barrow got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, while Leach went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two hits gave Leach a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Mt. Markham had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Maroon Knights with a sharp 12-3 victory.

Mt. Markham pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.1 runs this season. As for Adirondack, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Everything went Adirondack's way against Mt. Markham when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Adirondack made off with an 18-2 victory. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
