Baseball Game Preview: Patterson Tigers vs. El Capitan Gauchos

The Patterson Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the El Capitan Gauchos at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Monday, Patterson didn't have quite enough to beat Tracy and fell 11-9. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Max Medina put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Medina was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Medina is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stole at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Guy Allard made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cole Medina, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, El Capitan unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hughson on Monday.

El Capitan also got a good showing from Phoenix Alexander, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit.

Patterson now has a losing record of 1-2. As for El Capitan, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-1.

Patterson suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to El Capitan in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Patterson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
