Softball Recap: Oldham County Drops Highest Score of Season Against Cooper

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oldham County). Everything went their way against the Cooper Jaguars on Thursday as Oldham County made off with a 16-6 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Colonels considering their two-run performance the match before.

Jozie Lashley and Aubrey Batts did most of the damage at the plate: Lashley went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Batts went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Lashley has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Devyn Collins, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Oldham County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cooper only posted a batting average of .348.

Oldham County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Cooper, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coming up, Oldham County will be playing at home against Bath County at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. As for Cooper, they will head out on the road to face off against Notre Dame Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
