Baseball Recap: Doherty Memorial Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Doherty Memorial ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Uxbridge Spartans 4-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Highlanders also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Pat Murray, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season.

Doherty Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Uxbridge, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2.

Coming up, Doherty Memorial will challenge North at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Highlanders are facing the Polar Bears at the right time seeing as the Polar Bears are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Uxbridge, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Advanced Math & Science Academy at 3:45 p.m. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
