Softball Game Preview: North Stafford Wolverines vs. Stafford Indians

The North Stafford Wolverines will venture away from home to take on the Stafford Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Stafford's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Stafford's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

North Stafford is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Riverbend just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears. Wolverines fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bears since on Friday.

Kaylie DeChicchis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, North Stafford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Lizardo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Hailey Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Stafford's offense. They fell 4-0 to Eastern View on Friday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Indians were not able to get on the board.

Stafford's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for North Stafford, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

North Stafford skirted past Stafford 6-4 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
