Basketball Game Preview: Making Waves Academy Marlins vs. Castlemont Knights

The Making Waves Academy Marlins will take on the Castlemont Knights in a tournament on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Making Waves Academy has five straight wins, Castlemont has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Making Waves Academy will head into Thursday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 50) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Mare Island Tech Academy out 48-45. The 48-point effort marked the Marlins' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Castlemont had to suffer through a 72-21 loss at the hands of Irvington.

Making Waves Academy pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Castlemont, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
