Baseball Recap: Maplewood Triumphs

After only one run in their last contest, Maplewood made sure to put some runs up on the board against Jamestown on Friday. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Muskies a 14-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-4 back in March.

Maplewood got a massive performance out of Paul Hirosky, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Those three hits gave Hirosky a new career-high. Chase Koelle was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Maplewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Maplewood's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Jamestown, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Maplewood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-0 win against Rocky Grove on the 23rd. As for Jamestown, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-5 defeat against Cambridge Springs on the 22nd.
