Recap: Pavilion Golden Gophers vs. Mount Morris Blue Devils
The Pavilion Golden Gophers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They suffered a rough 71-50 loss at the hands of Mount Morris. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pavilion in their matchups with Mount Morris: they've now lost five in a row.
Leading Mount Morris to victory were Aidan Stanley and Anthony Hightower. Stanley scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Hightower scored 14 points along with eight steals and seven assists. That's the first time this season that Stanley grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Yencer, who scored 20 points.
Pavilion's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-7. As for Mount Morris, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pavilion on the road again on Tuesday and play against Hornell at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hornell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Pavilion likes a good challenge. As for Mount Morris, they will head out on the road to challenge Haverling at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Haverling is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
