Football Recap: Troy Piles Up the Points Against Santa Ana

Troy won the last time they faced Santa Ana and things went their way on Friday too. The Warriors simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Saints 48-19. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Warriors' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Saints are ranked 715th).

Troy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Hintz, who rushed for 119 yards and two scores on only 14 carries. Mason Mays was another key signal caller, throwing for 207 yards and three TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Troy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 240 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 189 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Troy's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 43.6 points this season. As for Santa Ana, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Looking ahead, Troy will challenge Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors are facing the Comanches at the right time seeing as the Comanches are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Santa Ana, they will face off against Sonora at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.29 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
