Basketball Recap: Rector Comes Up Short

Rector lost to Buffalo Island Central back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Cougars fell 53-40 to the Mustangs. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Rector still got an impressive performance from Rylee Wilburn, who posted 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 57.5% of the Cougars' points, marking the fourth time in a row Wilburn has had more than a third of the team's points. Cearra Machon was another key player, putting up four points and five boards.

Rector's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Buffalo Island Central, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Rector is set to square off against their familiar foe East Poinsett County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Buffalo Island Central will face off against rival Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
