Recap: Catholic - N.I. Panthers vs. New Iberia Yellowjackets

The Catholic - N.I. Panthers suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of New Iberia by a score of 42-40. While losing is never fun, Catholic - N.I. can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while New Iberia is ranked tenth).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Iberia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wayne Randall-bashay, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Randall-bashay hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Otis Anderson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.

Catholic - N.I.'s loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for New Iberia, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 19-3.

Catholic - N.I. will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Loreauville at 5:30 p.m. As for New Iberia, they will head out on the road to square off against Lafayette at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lafayette will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
