Football Recap: Lutheran Northwest Finds Playoff Glory Versus Detroit Community

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lutheran Northwest walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Detroit Community Hurricanes 42-14. Considering the Crusaders have won five games by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Raymond Losier was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 112 yards and four scores on only seven carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Conner Lemke got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lutheran Northwest was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. They are a perfect 6-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Lutheran Northwest didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Lemke, Josiah Kouba, and Jonah Breithaupt picked up one apiece. Lemke got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Lutheran Northwest has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.0 points over those games. As for Detroit Community, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-4.

Coming up, Lutheran Northwest will challenge Millington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals' defense has only allowed 14.1 points per game this season, so the Crusaders' offense will have their work cut out for them. Detroit Community does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
