Basketball Game Preview: Camelback Spartans vs. South Mountain Jaguars

The Camelback Spartans will challenge the South Mountain Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Camelback is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Maryvale 47-23 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Spartans have posted since January 30, 2024.

Camelback found their leader in freshman Lilly Buckner, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tameika Brady, who posted four points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, after only 24 points in their last contest, South Mountain made sure to put some points up on the board against Browne on Wednesday. South Mountain breezed by Browne to the tune of 73-10. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Bruins are ranked 298th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Camelback's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13. As for South Mountain, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
