Recap: Columbus Blue Devils vs. Crisp County Cougars
You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Columbus Blue Devils's strategy against the Crisp County Cougars on Saturday. Columbus strolled past Crisp County with points to spare, taking the game 66-51. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Columbus.
Robert Hartford was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Baldwin, who scored 16 points.
Despite the loss, Crisp County still got an impressive performance from Zakariyya Dwight, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. That was a full 41.2% of Crisp County's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Rj Williams, who scored four points along with 15 rebounds.
Columbus has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Crisp County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus will challenge Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monroe will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. As for Crisp County, Crisp County and Wilcox County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
