If the Chase County Longhorns were feeling good off their 56-26 takedown of the Sutherland Sailors on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Chase County took a 32-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wray on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Chase County has scored all season.
It was another big night for Dori Saffer, who scored nine points along with seven steals for Wray. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for her.
Chase County bumped their record down to 2-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Wray, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chase County will be home for the holidays to greet Bridgeport at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bridgeport knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Chase County likes a good challenge. Wray will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Merino at 4:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Merino is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
