It was a good run, but Grand Island Lutheran unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 2-0 to the Central Valley Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lightning of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-12.

Abby Van Bibber paced Grand Island Lutheran's offense, picking up six kills. Van Bibber got some help from Chloe Keasling and her 11 assists.

Grand Island Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Central Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, Grand Island Lutheran and Central Valley will both be playing Archangels Catholic the next time they take the court. The Lightning will head out to face the Defenders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Cougars will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
