Baseball Game Preview: Adams County Christian Rebels vs. Oak Forest Academy Yellowjackets

For the second straight game, Adams County Christian will face off against Oak Forest Academy. The Rebels will take on the Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Adams County Christian has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Adams County Christian's offense. They came up short against Oak Forest Academy on Tuesday, falling 13-0. Considering the last time the Rebels couldn't score was back in February, the team can't take the result too hard.

For Oak Forest Academy's part, Logan Freche made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Freche has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kaul Perkins and Keegan Kelsey did most of the damage at the plate: Perkins got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Kelsey went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Perkins has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kahne Andrews, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Oak Forest Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Oak Forest Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Adams County Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.
