Football Game Preview: Cypress Ranch Mustangs vs. Cypress Woods Wildcats + How To Watch

Cypress Ranch is a perfect 10-0 against Cypress Woods since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cypress Ranch has four straight wins, Cypress Woods has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Saturday, Cypress Ranch was able to grind out a solid victory over Cypress Lakes, taking the game 21-14. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Spartans are ranked 417th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Khristian White was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 135 yards and a pair of scores.

Another reason for the win was Cypress Ranch's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Calvin Thomas was especially locked on to Cypress Lakes' QB and sacked him twice. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cypress Woods challenged Cypress Springs on Friday. The Wildcats fell 21-13 to the Panthers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cypress Ranch's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Cypress Woods, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Cypress Ranch took their victory against Cypress Woods in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 34-14 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
