Preview: Oak Hills Bulldogs vs. Burroughs Burros
Oak Hills is 7-1 against Burroughs since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Oak Hills Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Burroughs Burros at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oak Hills has four straight victories, Burroughs has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Oak Hills earned a 35-24 win over Sultana. Given Oak Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Sultana is ranked 352nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oak Hills' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maurice Parker led the charge by picking up 177 receiving yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Lopez, who threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 passes.
Meanwhile, Burroughs fell victim to Apple Valley's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 56-0 loss at the hands of the Sun Devils.
Oak Hills' victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.7 points per game. As for Burroughs, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for Oak Hills against Burroughs in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 as the squad secured a 55-0 victory. Does Oak Hills have another victory up their sleeve, or will Burroughs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
