Baseball Recap: Arcata Tigers vs. Eureka Loggers
Arcata had lost four straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped down to 6-14 to make it five. They came up short against the Eureka Loggers, falling 11-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Loggers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 on April 8th.
As for Eureka, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games.
For Eureka's part, Kyle Giacone looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Ty Crawford was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Bermers, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Eureka beat Arcata by a score of 11-1 later that day.
