Softball Recap: Wewahitchka Gators vs. Franklin County Seahawks

Wewahitchka and Franklin County squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Wewahitchka had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Franklin County Seahawks by a score of 6-5. Wewahitchka was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Franklin County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March.

For Franklin County's part, Sarah Ham made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Ham has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Ham was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilah Millender, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Wewahitchka now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Franklin County, they pushed their record up to 16-11 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
