Baseball Game Preview: Star City Bulldogs vs. Hampton Bulldogs

Star City will head out on the road to face off against Hampton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Star City fell victim to Hamburg and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 7-0. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Hampton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 11-1 to Ouachita.

Hampton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Evans, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases. Jaedon Thomas also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Star City's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Hampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14-1.

Star City took their victory against Hampton in their previous meeting back in February of 2019 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Star City since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
