Football Recap: North Edgecombe Warriors vs. KIPP P Pride
The matchup between North Edgecombe and KIPP P on Friday hardly resembled the 0-0 effort from their previous meeting. The North Edgecombe Warriors were outmatched by the KIPP P Pride at home and fell 60-14. Despite 99 more yards than the Pride, the Warriors couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
North Edgecombe lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zyquarius Cherry, who rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. KIPP P found their leader in sophomore Josiah Esperance, who rushed for 109 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Esperance got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 55 yards. Semari Boone was another key player, picking up 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
North Edgecombe is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8. As for KIPP P, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
