Recap: The Classical Academy Titans vs. Vista Ridge Wolves
It was a good run, but The Classical Academy Titans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. The contest between The Classical Academy and Vista Ridge wasn't particularly close, with The Classical Academy falling 54-36. The Classical Academy lost against Vista Ridge in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 44-36 score last time.
The Classical Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Naomi Flowers and Ashlyn Delaney. Flowers scored four points along with five assists, while Delaney scored four points along with six rebounds. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for Flowers. Another player making a difference was Jerrica Thompson, who scored three points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vista Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jasmine Byers, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Byers is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Brooklyn Kaiser was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
The Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Vista Ridge, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
The Classical Academy and Pueblo South will face off at 11:30 a.m. on December 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pueblo South will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 245th, while The Classical Academy is ranked 65th). Vista Ridge and Air Academy will face off at 10:00 a.m. on December 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
