Volleyball Recap: Newcomb's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Newcomb had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the To'hajiilee Warriors on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Skyhawks also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2016.

Newcomb had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-16.

Newcomb's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for To'hajiilee, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Newcomb will be taking part in a tournament against Alamo Navajo at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for To'hajiilee, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Evangel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on October 9.
