Baseball Recap: Solorio Takes a Loss

Solorio had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 7-12 to make it four. They lost 14-4 to the Brooks Eagles. The Sun Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 9-8.

Juan Barrientos put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Barrientos was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Barrientos wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Keiber Hernandez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another was Josiah Saucedo, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Brooks, the victory snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 8-17 record. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 14th (when they won 11-1).

On Brooks' side, Ameer Rule was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The Eagles are 2-1 when Rule posts three or more RBI, but 6-16 otherwise. Jared Ramsey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Solorio will challenge Kenwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Brooks, they will face off against Von Steuben at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
