Softball Recap: Northgate Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

It's playoff time, and Northgate had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Acalanes Dons by a score of 5-2 on Friday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 14-5 victory on May 8th.

Ashley Herman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Taelyn Jriyasetapong was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Sophie Hanko was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Northgate hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Acalanes struck out 13 times.

Northgate has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Acalanes, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Northgate nor Acalanes have any future games scheduled.
