Basketball Recap: Chamberlain Comes Up Short at Home Against Todd County

Chamberlain unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Todd County Falcons on Saturday, falling 66-43. The match was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but the Cubs couldn't quite close it out.

Todd County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chris Ellert led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Ellert a new career-high in steals (six). Another player making a difference was Tylen Valandra, who went 8 of 15 en route to 21 points and five rebounds.

Todd County's victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.

Chamberlain will head out to square off against Gregory at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Todd County will take on Lakota Tech in a holiday battle at at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
