Baseball Recap: Horizon Triumphs

Horizon's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Cypress Creek Bears. The Hawks have beaten the Bears the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bears has come to flipping the script.

Horizon got a great performance from Michael Singer as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over six innings pitched. Singer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alex Galan was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Jose Massanet was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Horizon's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Cypress Creek, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Horizon will square off against Foundation Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cypress Creek, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Innovation at 5:00 p.m.
