Leland suffers fourth straight loss at home

Recap: Leland Cubs vs. Simmons Blue Devils

The Leland Cubs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Simmons, falling 68-37. Leland has not had much luck with Simmons recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Simmons was led to victory by Akiah Prince and Vontasia Rush. Prince scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, while Rush scored 19 points along with six steals. Prince hasn't dropped below 15 points for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Kristen Johnson, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Leland's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Simmons, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leland will take on West Bolivar at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Bolivar is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Simmons, they will head out on the road to take on Shaw at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
