Basketball Recap: Houghton Gets the Win

Houghton hadn't done well against Negaunee recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Houghton Gremlins slipped by the Negaunee Miners 65-64. This was payback for the Gremlins, who suffered a 57-51 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Houghton pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Negaunee, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-6 record.

Houghton and Negaunee should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Houghton (ranked 176th) will meet Hancock (ranked 715th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Negaunee will square off against Ishpeming at 6:00 p.m. on Friday up 183 places (152 vs. 335).
