Baseball Recap: Fort Wayne South Side's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Fort Wayne South Side dropped their record down to 6-10 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 8-0 to the Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Saints. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Saints this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-3 on Wednesday.

As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 14-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

For Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger's part, Parker Tone made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Tone has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Paul Baumgartner was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Eric Hudson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Coming up, Fort Wayne South Side will challenge Fort Wayne Canterbury at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Archers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
