Preview: Mt. Vernon vs. Greenwood
It's playoff time, and Mt. Vernon and Greenwood are set to clash on Friday at 7:00 PM. Greenwood will need to watch out since Mt. Vernon have now posted big point totals in their last four contests.
Mt. Vernon put the finishing touches on their 5th blowout victory of the season last Friday. Everything came up roses for them against Shelbyville as the squad secured a 56-0 victory. Mt. Vernon found their leader in underclassman sophomore Rylan Cole, who rushed for 133 yards and 4 touchdowns. Cole has now scored at least one touchdown in the past five games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Greenwood ultimately got the result it was hoping for. They won a match that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by New Castle 35-34. It took five tries, but Greenwood can finally say that they have a win on the road.
Mt. Vernon took a serious blow against Greenwood the last time the two teams met, falling 6-50. The loss knocked Mt. Vernon out of the playoffs, so expect them to come at Greenwood with a vengeful fire.
