Baseball Recap: Mt. Blue Takes a Loss

If Mt. Blue was riding high fresh off their 16-1 takedown of Lewiston on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars came up short against the Oxford Hills Vikings on Wednesday, falling 11-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this contest were averaging 3.75 runs allowed.

Mt. Blue's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Oxford Hills, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mt. Blue will take on Dirigo at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Dirigo will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Oxford Hills, they will challenge Fryeburg at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 1.7, the Raiders 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
