Softball Recap: Norwell Clippers vs. Marshfield Rams
Norwell extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-5 in the process. They lost 16-6 to the Marshfield Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 back in April.
As for Marshfield, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2. Considering they have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Marshfield's part, Sofia Blanco made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Blanco has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madelyn Whitaker, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Liliana Newman was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
