Football Game Preview: Mancos Bluejays vs. Dove Creek Bulldogs + How To Watch

The Mancos Bluejays will square off against the Dove Creek Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mancos' defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Dolores, posting a 40-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bluejays in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won four in a row.

Mancos got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Resner out in front who threw for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also punched in two scores on the ground. Those 152 passing yards gave Resner a new career-high.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dove Creek). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Monticello 64-35.

Dove Creek's win came from a few key players Mancos will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cael Beanland, who rushed for 155 yards and one TD while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 82 yards. Another back making a difference was Josh Kibel, who gained 133 total yards and three touchdowns.

Mancos' victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Dove Creek, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Everything came up roses for Mancos against Dove Creek in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bluejays since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
