Football Recap: Cornell Comes Up Short at Home Against Lake Holcombe

Cornell unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Lake Holcombe Chieftains and fell 28-0. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

Emmit Johnson had an outrageously good game for Lake Holcombe as he rushed for 114 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 39 yards and one TD.

Cornell will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Owen-Withee at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Lake Holcombe, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 58-6 defeat against New Auburn on the 28th.
