Baseball Recap: Northglenn Victorious

Northglenn won against Rangeview on Wednesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Norsemen skirted past the Mountain Range Mustangs 7-5. This was payback for the Norsemen, who suffered a 7-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Demetrius Guzman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Northglenn is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-6 otherwise. Guzman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Northglenn let Hunter Campbell and Deynner Pena run wild. Campbell scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Pena scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases Campbell has posted since back in March.

Northglenn's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 6-7. As for Mountain Range, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Coming up, Northglenn will take on Centaurus at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Mountain Range, they will square off against Skyview at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
