Athens Drive fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Chapel Hill on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 5-4. The Jaguars' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Julia Seriguchi Chen spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Athens Drive saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Saryn Duggan, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Sanderson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Franklinton, falling 12-3.

Sloane Thorpe was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.

Sanderson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Athens Drive, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
