Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Aiden Hurst and Jameson Miles Lead Peabody-Burns to Victory

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Peabody-Burns ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the Wakefield Bombers by a score of 58-47. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Leading Peabody-Burns to victory were Jameson Miles and Aiden Hurst. Miles dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Hurst went 5 of 12 en route to 18 points and seven boards. Miles is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last five games he's played. Chris Spencer was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Despite the loss, Wakefield still got an impressive performance from Kingsley Smith, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Smith is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradyn Moenning, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points and five boards.

Peabody-Burns' win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Wakefield, their defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Peabody-Burns wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 75-27 loss against Little River on the 18th. As for Wakefield, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Blue Valley on January 28th.
