Basketball Game Preview: Northwestern Bulls vs. Ensworth Tigers

Having just played yesterday, the Northwestern Bulls will head out on the road to face off against the Ensworth Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Northwestern knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Ensworth likes a good challenge.

Northwestern is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Central: they outscored them in every quarter. Northwestern was the clear victor by a 72-48 margin over Central on Saturday. The Bulls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 24 points or more this season.

Northwestern got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Calvin Russell Jr. out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Another player making a difference was Jamiro Smith, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points.

While Ensworth didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 63-24 win over Winter Haven. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 30th in Tennessee, while the Blue Devils are ranked 513th in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ensworth has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Northwestern, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
