Porter came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.2 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Pace Vikings a 1-0 shutout. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 131st in Texas, while the Vikings are ranked 556th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Porter pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those nine matches. As for Pace, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's still a better percentage than their 2-7 record this season.
