Basketball Game Preview: Parkston Trojans vs. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Rebels

The Parkston Trojans will take on the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Rebels at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Parkston knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Sanborn Central/Woonsocket likes a good challenge.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket is facing Parkston at the wrong time: Parkston suffered their first home loss of the season on Tuesday and they're likely out for redemption. They took a 67-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fighting Cougars. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Trojans came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Fighting Cougars are ranked 85th).

Meanwhile, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They managed a 60-54 win over the Rustlers.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-4. As for Parkston, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3.

Parkston came up short against Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 75-66. Can Parkston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
