Softball Game Preview: Glastonbury Guardians vs. Manchester Red Hawks

The Glastonbury Guardians will venture away from home to face off against the Manchester Red Hawks at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Manchester took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Glastonbury, who comes in off a win.

Glastonbury is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over South Windsor on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Guardians considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Emily Thompson was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Taylor Page also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Manchester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 11-5 to Bristol Eastern.

Chloe Fontaine '25 made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. McKenna Hills-Nevin '26 was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Glastonbury's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Manchester, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Everything went Glastonbury's way against Manchester in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Glastonbury made off with an 11-1 victory. Do the Guardians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
