Owego Free Academy hasn't had much luck against Chenango Valley recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The River Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Owego Free Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Owego Free Academy took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Waverly, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The River Hawks narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Wolverines 8-7.

Carsten Crawford made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Geneva Crawford was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Miley Laubach, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Chenango Valley waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Black Knights as they made off with a 13-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Chenango Valley got a massive performance out of Colsten Beers, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That home run was Beers' first of the season. Amelia Paske was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Chenango Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windsor Central only posted an OBP of .382.
Chenango Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Owego Free Academy, their record now sits at 10-2.
